Hello everybody,

I would like to welcome you to the 205GTIDrivers.com Official Facebook Page!

https://www.facebook.com/205GTIDrivers

With 205 GTI's rapidly becoming a very rare sight on the roads, I thought it might be worthwhile to get all the owners and fans connected.

You are welcome to join regardless of being a member of our forum or not (guests can read this topic too, you know).

We'll be posting news, updates and offers on there, as a quick and easy way to let you all know what's the latest in the world of 205GTIDrivers.com, so I hope you'll join.

P.S. Page fans initially won't be able to make posts or upload photos, while I develop the structure of the page.

See you on there! :)

Thanks, Nikica.

Unfortunately i'm not a member of that Site

If I wanted to speak to certain people from School, College and previous work I would have bothered to keep in touch  Telephones work wonders for me.

i too have liked! i think some are missing the point about this group. its just another way of 205 gti fans to keep in touch. i too am very selective about privacy and on facebook you can control who sees your information so if you dont want contact with anyone from your past or indeed present you dont have to bee in contact with them and can even block to make sure they dont so theres no need for sarcasm and comments like " the telephone works for me " thats true of everyone! i applaud cybernck for using another medium to bring us 205 gti enthusiasts together :)

I can find out what people are doing by speaking to them, meeting them etc. I personally am in the brigade that has no need for it. The more and more it gets used, the less people interact physically. About the only thing I could see it being useful for is photo's. But my fear is, if you don't use it regularly, you miss certain news and information which never makes it's way into verbal conversation. What I have experienced from having my group of friends on there is, that when interaction comes around on a weekend for example, nothing that they have done recently comes up in conversation as they assume that because they have written about it already that people must of read and known about it. Luckily I get told via traditional telephone about 'events' that get discussed on there. Over the weekend a friend of mine rang me and notified me of a party next weekend because he knew that it wouldn't be mentioned 'offline'.

I imagine it's the same with online gaming as a whole with younger generations. I remember going around friends houses and making evening's of playing the PS and comibing it with beer etc. Not so long ago when I was at a loose end on a Saturday I suggested a mate coming over to chill out, he said 'what's the point, I can play you on the xbox and chat'.

Anyway, that's another discussion and this thread doesn't need to be cluttered up by it so someone can start a new one if they feel that Facebook offers that much of a service that it is compulsary.

They can't keep in touch/get connected because unless i'm missing something, these pages don't show who it actually is that 'likes' it.

What happened to the original 205 GT Drivers group that was set up years ago?

I think thats something Cybernck has chosen to do? With time and the addition of photos and comments I imagine it will change.

Yes, that's exactly the point! The page is there for promotion and to bring together people who are not aware of this site/forum and point them

in this direction and to keep existing members aware of things and news they might have missed. The times when 205 GTI's were mainstream

and we actually wanted to have new members discover the site only by word of mouth to keep the quality up are long gone now as 205 GTI's

have become so scarce that we need to get ALL the remaining 205 GTI owners and genuine enthusiasts together on here.

The same as with my reply to jackheher's question. It's there to promote the site/forum, not to replace it. I will enable comments and photos later,

when that's clear to everyone. I don't want people posting technical questions and for sale adverts on there, if you see what I mean.

Don't know, it's there but it seems pretty much dead. Groups will become obsolete anyway and pages are a new format to be used for such things.

I hope the purpose of the page is clear now :).

At the moment it's nothing that you won't find here (car photo of the month,

giveaway contests, news & updates), but makes it harder to miss out on :).
