Gti-6 Loom Queries

Recommended Posts

I'd be very grateful for a couple of pointers please, so I can be sure I'm fitting the loom correctly. The car being converted is non-PAS and non-AC.

I have a couple of sendors left to attach and many more plugs, so I assume some are redundant, but confirmation would be good. So:

1. I have 2 blue plugs, I believe 1 is for the coolant sensor and the other i think (from searching on the forum) maybe PAS pressure and therefore redundant. Am I correct? To be 100% I've connect the correct one, is the plug with white and light brown wires the one for the coolant sendor?

2. The crank positon sensor is located on the top of the gearbox. A black, 2 blade (male) presentation - correct? Which plug should attach? I currently have several remaining, 1 white plug with orange and grey wires and 2 black plugs (not sure of the wire colours). Which is the correct one for CPS? What are the others for? I can take photos or get wire colour info if required.

3. Finally, I have a brown plug, which I've not identified. Any suggestions:

Thanks.

1, yep it'll only fit the blue sensor anyway.

3, crank sensor.

the others depend where they are, fit the inlet manifold and you'll soon find where they go.

  1. There's normally three - one is the combined coolant dash gauge/light, one is the PAS pressure, and one is for the oil temperature switch
  2. Crank position sensor normally has a brown 3 pin plug and is held in place on the top of the box with a single bolt. It isn't fitted on 205's as standard - use the GTi-6 one.
  3. That wire at a glance looks like the loom side of the crank sensor - should be slightly harder to bend than other wires as it's shielded

1: Yep, there are 3, I forgot about the oill temp. Thanks for the feedback, I'm now confident this is correct.

2: Maybe I'm wrong referring to the sensor as crank positon sensor. I have attached a photo to rule out doubt:

Is this a crank position sensor or am I talking bull?

3: I can't see where this plug should attach. I'm using the original 1.6 'box - does this have any impact on the 3 pin brown plug?

That's the reverse light switch that you've pictured - white 2-pin plug goes on there

The crank sensor goes in the hole on top of the gearbox about an inch from the block. 205 didn't have one fitted originally if it was a non-CAT (Jetronic) model, so if you didn't get it from the donor car, you'll need to source one.
