106 Gti And 106 S2 Rallye Interchangability?

Recommended Posts

right, ive been looking for a 106 gti engine, with not much luck, so ive got my hands on a 106 phase 2 rallye engine to stick in whilst i find a good one.

Im just wondering if theres much on these two engines that are interchangeable? Im thinking things like coolant hoses, induction kits, exhaust manifolds etc?

Manifolds are different.

coolant I think some are different.

induction kits wouldn't be far off as I fitted a vts induction kit to my vtr when I had it

if your getting a gti engine id get a jp4 and fit gti cams and valve springs I looked at a low mileage jp4 on ebay for 250 can't go wrong with that

I know theres plenty about, its just trying to find one reletively close by. I also need something in the meantime as the clutch is on the way out on my car at the moment so I dont want to change the clutch only to take the engine back out a few weeks later, I'd rather get something thats working and drop it in so I can take my time finding the right engine and so I'm not in a rush

yeah but I dont want to have to pay £40ish for a clutch when I can get 18 extra bhp and a new clutch for an extra £60 ;)
