Cam Timing And Flywheel

Recommended Posts

daneldridge23

Hi guys i have fit my cams back in my head, im using piper pullys.

My questions are, i have found tdc on cylinder no1 and marked it on my crank pully.

I have made a pointer and fixed it to the block and then found maximum lift on the valves as there are no dowl holes, marked everything up and put the belt on.

Am i right so far?

Im now ready to put the flywheel back on. Will it be in the right place on its dowl beacause i keep thinking that the two teeth missing on the ballencer should be tdc,

Can sombody give me some advice or am i getting confused being this is my first time building an engine

The missing teeth on a Motronic flywheel are not at TDC. Have a look on Petert's website here for info on determining TDC using the flywheel

personally i would fit the standard pulleys first to get everything timed correctly then swap the pulleys, xu's pin up mid way not at tdc.

Its not the timing, im pretty sure im correct, im worried about the tly wheel senser and the flywheel not being in the right place

To give the ECU (via the crank sensor) a known reference point to know when the flywheel has turned a complete revolution.

flywheel can't go on wrong as theres a dowel, missing teeth iirc are at 114.5 degrees.
