Do a search for gti6 rev counter problems. You need a conversion loom, i believe there is someone on this forum that makes them.

You need either a modified rev counter or signal converter.

The GTI-6 rpm signal comes from the ecu & isn't compatible with the original 205 GTI rev counter.

Try a search as there are various topics discussing this & how to get around it.

check this link out, scroll down a bit and you will see the circuit i made up to run my tacho on my 6 conversion. mine is wasted spark on megasquirt managment tho so not sure how this will work for cop igntion. or even if it would on std managment?

i do have a spare ciruit made up here if you want it?

have a read up on it:

you'd need to add another two trigger diodes for a gti6.

I've made a couple of these and they work just fine, DCC has one on his, I have one on my 205 and a 205 I converted to a 2.0 mi a few years ago had one. doesn't cost much, have a big bag of the standard diodes, just need the Zener and resistors and I can make a few more if you're interested?

This is something I would be interested in, I have tried a few different ways with no luck.

If you have a read of my project thread (in my sig) then I discuss the dashboard mod, it's really very easy indeed.

Only trouble I have is that it doesn't show revs on crankIng only when it fires up

I've seen a 205 tacho that had a slight delay before it started working, I connected a different set of clocks and they worked immediately so the fault was in the tacho itself.

It is a bit of a pain as the bouncing tacho (or lack of) while cranking is a useful diagnostic aid when troubleshooting a non-starter.

Not really an issue, if it don't start i just plug the laptop in and can see the revs there :)

if it fires spark when its cranking then it should make the rev counter move.

you would think so but mine doesnt??? when it fires i have a second or so delay then it kicks in. not a big issue for me so not really looked into it further

Welshpug, it should but it doesn't in this case due to a fault in the tacho itself which delays the needle moving off the stop! :)

yes this would be ecellent let me know how much you want and when it needs delivering plus if you could provide an install guide for complete morons who know nothing about electrics or auto electrics that would be top ^_^
