Can You Buy A Catb Back From The Insurance?

Recommended Posts

feb

As per title, a friend of mine is looking at buying a car which is advertised as a CatB.

I had the impression that you can't buy a CatB back or does it depend on the insurance?

Cheers!

I think my brother bought back a Cat B Miami 205 and the scrapyard snipped the A pillars so it couldn't be put back on the road

A Cat B is a breaker only. Either damaged beyond economical repair and/or severe structural damage. Cat C & D are damaged repairable salvage with C needing a VIC check before it goes on the road.

He is buying it for parts, but would like to know whether the insurance company is aware that the car is being sold from the owner that claims to have bought it back (or doesn't it care?)

His suspicion is that the car might have been stolen from the scrapyard/storage where it was kept although a HPI check still shows it as Cat B (and not stolen or anything).

He wouldn't have any V5 as the owner has sent it back to the insurance he claims.

Take a look at my pic in the 205 of the month, this came from the Police to me as they crashed into it. Even got a nice blue light from them too

Makes Simon's car look like a little dent
