I think you should as it will probably make your insurance cheaper.

Plus your engine block might match her nails

is it as bad as the world war you would create if she smashed up your pride and joy? personally i wont insure my wife on my car because she is less experienced than i am behind the wheel ( she is 27 and not yet passed her test and i am 40 and been driving since 17 and am a hgv/psv driving professional ) but also everything she has driven is modern and sterile with power steering , anti lock brakes airbags etc! so she wouldnt be used to driving a car without these! i dont know what the situation is with the 2 of you so cant judge but you have my reasoning. i hope it helps

Just insure her on it, she won't like driving it anyway and it will bring the price down.

I insure the wife on every car i've owned and thats been some quick stuff, I don't see what the problem is really.

how is she as a driver,

my mum currently has my immaculate gti6 as i cant afford to run it and it would otherwise be sat about. Its lowered, solid mounts etc so a bit fiesty in the wet but she deals with it ok.

Comes down ultimately to how much you trust your partners driving and what respect (or lack of) they have for your car.

Some of my previous partners I've been happy to allow them to drive any of my cars, and others there is absolutely no way I'd allow them to drive any of them.

My girlfriend is insured to drive all my cars.

I work on the basis that;

-She cannot drive them any harder than I do at times

and

-I take her car out for a beating round the lanes now and again, so fair is fair

As much as anything else she loves her own car and know how much time and effort I put into mine. I know for sure if she ever were to have an accident she would be just as gutted as I.

Having said all that, even though she has expressed interest a couple of times, and is named on the insurance, she is yet to drive my red turbo. She drove it a few times when it was a standard car and liked it, probably because it had more go than the 1.25 Fiesta she had at the time.

I wouldn't, no one has ever driven my Rallye apart from me in my ownership. Its mine, no one else in the entire world knows it as well as I do, or how to drive it as well as I do ^_^ (as in characteristics not being a good driver)

Also, in the past its been common practice for me and my friends to just drive each others cars, but none of them have asked to drive the Rallye or would insult me enough to ask as they know much time/money I've put into it.

Harsh!!

my problem is that i have spent ages trying to get the car as i want it and when its done it will be worth alot more than just the thousands i have spent on it.

even if she gets the smallest scratch on it will be like a kick in the short and curlys, maybe i will insure her and just not tell her!
