dave205 19 Posted January 23, 2012 Got a new wing for my gti, its being sprayed this week so i will be ready to fit it next week hopefully. Whats the best way of protecting the inside of the wing? Waxy-oil or similair? Also whats the best way to cut the side repeater hole and bolt the wing on, should i use something to bond it aswell?
Tom Fenton 1,536 Posted January 24, 2012 Cut the side repeater hole before you have it painted. Also key the inside of the wing well, I then use decent stonechip on the inside of the wing.
welshpug 1,646 Posted January 24, 2012 IIRC there is a template in the haynes manual for the side repeater hole.

Its already been painted , but he's having the car once i've fitted it to touch a few things up so will get him to touch up any mess i make. What stonechip? And where is the best place to buy it? IIRC there is a template in the haynes manual for the side repeater hole. I asume u just tape this onto the wing, mark it out, then cut it?
toddydal 1 Posted January 24, 2012 how i used to do the hole i would cut a small square off the old wing with the hole in it,then offer it up to the new wing and mark round it drill the hole then file to the right shape but make sure you use masking tape or gaffa tape round where you are drilling and filling so you dont mark your fresh paint,,,,like already said it should have been done first
matt.f 16 Posted January 25, 2012 Get them to paint the back aswell, then apply stonechip, available from your local motorfactors or probably the Bodyshop who's spraying it.
sensualt101 31 1 Cars Posted January 25, 2012 get it painted and laquered ( if applicable ) on both sides then stone chip the inside. its what i would do and then underseal when fitted.
