Single 45 Carb Manifold

Recommended Posts

smartarse

Im woundering if there is anyone that does an off the shelf manifold for a single dcoe 45 to fit a 1600 8v.

just to be a bit clearer i only want to use 2 chokes so the 4 inlets will come into 2

thanks

matt

Urm at the risk of asking a stupid question; why?

Surely that would be quite a step backwards from the injection??

Not really, If interested drop me a PM as I might be able to get one made up as a mate of mine had one done a few months back with good results

You'd have to ask what you are saving or gaining by only doing a single setup. It was popular on Mini's but they only had three inlet ports.

Not necersarally doing it for performance gain there are 2 main reasons a, so I can rias rally and b, it removes the hateful irritating French wiring and injection system. With a good head and cam good things can happen with the single carb.

Miles I'd be interested to have a look at your mates design etc

that troublesome management is German :P

personally I think you'd be far better off retaining the original manifold and running an aftermarket ecu, ditching the AFM and Distributor, far better drivability and fuel consumption than a damned carb, no need to tune them every other week either..

That's very true haha. I thinks it's the bit in-between that connect everything up that's the prob.

Well I'm unsure if removing the the afm would be legal as for road rally's I can either run only a one choke per two cylinders or the exsisting induction

of course it would be legal, the induction doesn't change, only the engine management, slightly different but this was done on the leading challenge cars back in the day.

you could run an MI16 if you wanted.

Ah right ok it's certainly another option. What management did you use.

I'll be able to do a back to back on this later in the year, As the engine I've got to do will be on Omex with a similar spec to my Mates in deepest Wales, He got around 175bhp at the flywheel with his setup of a single Carb

no need to tune them every other week either..

what a truth! I loved my DCOEs, but tuning them every single week (or day, depends on the temperature change outside) was soooo annoying!

Miles.

What spec was that engine?

Welshpug.

So do both the Bosch and dta cover fuel and ignition?

You got any of the parts available as it seems difficult to get hold of them.
