Mi16/gti6 Hybrid

Hi there

Iam currently building a mi16 alloy block with the gti6 head but un sure of to use the mi16 or the gti6 head gasket im thinking it would make more sence to use the gti6 gasket as the water ways at each end are longer on the gti6 than the mi16 so if i used the mi16 gasket i dont think it would seal properly?

I would personally use an Mi16 gasket out of the two, as it's 83mm bore to match the liners - GTi-6 (and other XU10) is 86mm and leaves perilously little fire ring on the liner surface for my tastes, although others did do that with XU10 headed 8v's successfully.

Also, I'm not sure how well an MLS gasket like a GTi-6 uses would work on a wet lined Mi16 bottom end.

or the XU7 gasket, I'd check with Sandy as he's had experience of these built as race engines. :)

Ah so that's why you posted in my for sale thread.

Anyway, as you now know, I used an Mi16 gasket on mine and it's covered about 8k faultlessly.

You wouldn't use an XU10 gasket as the bore is 86mm. It must be XU9 or XU7 which are both 83mm.
