perthpug 0 Posted January 19, 2012 hi guys, replacing the inner cv boots on my 309 shafts just now and i cant seem to be able to remove the cv joint to put the new boot on, most cars iv done have a small circlip holding the joint in place but on these shafts it looks as though the splines have been notched in on three places to hold it on. please tell me im being thick and it comes off, OR do i need to get strtetchy cv boots cheers for any advice
welshpug 1,646 Posted January 19, 2012 you need a punch and hammer, or a puller. Personally I steer well clear or "stretchy" boots. do mark the tripod and the end of the shaft to ensure they go back on the same place, and when all done peen over the splines again to hold it in place. welshpug 1,646 Posted January 19, 2012 no, just knock the tripod off. odd that, I had no issues at all with the poor thing, must have been well and truly abused since!
