Peugeot Pulls Out Of Lemans. Thoughts?

Recommended Posts

I think LMP1 is too expensive because the likes of Audi and Peugeot have had a sustained campaign backed by near F1 budgets. It's not sustainable, even for them. The formula is not as competitive because of these big factory teams making it difficult for privateers, in addition to the diesels still holding a significant performance advantage as the rules stand.

In the grand scheme of things, there will be an Audi win, and plenty of older Audi and Peugeot diesel cars (privately) entered propping up the top ten. Then some front running petrols, and a few quick LMP2 cars.

I really like Le Mans, but feel it's a bit silly at the moment.

Great, more people in motorsport now looking for jobs. Just makes life harder.

I think its just a case of hard times, everyone is tightening there belts.

To some it could be seen as excess!

Hopefully they will see rallying as a more cost effective option.

To be honest I'm surprised there isn't news of more European race teams dropping out of competition with the current state of affairs!

I hope this rather sudden withdrawal doesn't suggest some higher level financial probelems at Peugeot... I suppose I can where they're coming from, constantly second-best to Audi it's probably tough to keep justifying their entry in the current financial climate. But, with the new 208 gti on the horizon I would've thought Peugeot would want to be building on this sort of high profile motorsport appeal...
