Renault Question.

Just been looking at cars for sale and I've seen a Williams Clio with a smashed up back end. Does this engine fit the 205? Majority of people seem to be sticking to peugeot lumps and a search doesn't bring up any answers.

How hard can it be?

Any engine can be made to fit with work but for the 150bhp this engine gives you might as well choose a PSA group engine that will fit with far less work imo.

when there's a plentiful source of more powerful engines that bolt straight in, you begin to wonder if there's any point ;)

anything can be done of course, all you need is a welder a supply of steel and some imagination.

but personally I'd just be looking to reshell that one if its cheap eno0ugh to bother with.

Shame, I wanted the "yeah bolts straight in" answer. I had my doubts though as no one seems to of done it. Shame about the williams though, great little cars.

Shame, I wanted the "yeah bolts straight in" answer.

Did you honestly even remotely expect that to be the case??

Well no, as I said above. No one seems to have bothered so there must have been a reason. When there's a possible donor car a few miles away the questions worth asking.

You could probably find a donor 306/xsara for a similar price to a smashed up williams

Luck of the draw really. All depends on what's local at the right price. What is the best to go for? What's the easiest to fit? Not looking for the most powerfull, just a good upgrade.

If you are looking for a place to drop a 2.0 Williams engine straight in then there is only one in my mind.....a Volvo 340, straight fit then weld up the diff and go drifting! The thought is tempting me, i must admit.

Never seen the point of sticking other make engine's into other makes, Just buy the car with the right engine in it and off you go

Well if you want big BHP then check the latest french car mag with the 205 featuring a 536bhp Evo engine!!Also the cosworth YB engine has been done before,i've also seen Nissan engines put into a 205.....the list goes on!!As has already been stated you can pretty much shoehorn any engine in if you have the skills, equipment and imagination. From a personal point of view it wouldn't feel quite right fitting an engine that wasn't from the PSA family of engines. But that's just my opinion.
