Bottom Engine Mount

Recommended Posts

Murf

Hello all, in the process of changing standard engine mounts to group N mounts. The bottom engine mount pritty much fell out but the metal ring is still in there and won't budge. Anyone got any easy ways of getting it out?

Thanks

Cut through it with a hacksaw and, if needs be, bend it inwards on itself. It'll just drop out then.

Hi Murf, I have had exactly the same problem with the rear engine mount. How did it go hacksawing the metal ring out? I though I would ask before I started hacking it to bits. Excuse the pun. Thanks Alex

Take hacksaw

Remove blade

Put blade through the mount with serrated side facing the metal ring you wish to remove.

Reattached blade to saw.

Cut metal ring

Tap out ring once you've cut through it.

Thanks Simes, very precise. I just wondered if he had come accoss any problems. Iv already cut through the ring now but I'm having problems refitting the mount. I'v tried tapping it in (Well whacking it in) but iv come to the conclusion a Vice might be the best way to push it in. Any ideas? Thanks Alex

You are supposed to use a press to push the new one in, but i have done it before in a vice using the old mount as a drift. A lot easier with a press though.

I've done it twice in situ -

big mallet

patience

grease.

Make sure it goes in square, then hit it hard.

I see you are in Rotherham, bring the mount and bush and I will press it in for you.
