As a professional in this specific sector I'd avoid them with a bargepole.

It would appear your silence speaks volumes........??

When I wrote off my red 205, I had an agreed value policy with Heritage, whist not super dynamic or anything they did get on with it and were quite reasonable.

I'm still with them in fact.

I claimed in 2008 and it ticked every box in terms of how not to handle a claim from start to finish. Oh and also included a fairly major breach of data protection.

And by no means least I worked for their parent company for 11 years.

And you didn't know of their work ethic from this??

Not sure what that's supposed to mean?

I worked in Aon's classic motor division until 2005, 2 years before they bought them. Commercial insurance so massively different but as said the claims service in the personal lines bit was, in my experience, very poor. There are much better companies out there.

Typically what requirements make you able to use classic car policies? is it just age? I'm considering buying the cheapest base model I can find and want to keep costs low.

Vehicle age in most cases coupled with units made for newer cars. Brand new Ferraris can achieve classic rates due to low volume although I'd argue against as repair costs too high to make this work (experience proves this).

For newer normal cars owner's club membership counts too regardless of how normal the car might appear. Remember that cars like the Allegro and Maxi were family cars and are now classics!

Arguably a base model 205 is a classic as the newest will be 16-17 years old(ish).
