Footman James Classic Policy

Recommended Posts

lfallgti

Just a quick post to say how impressed i was with the quote from them,

£140 Comprehensive on my F reg 1.9.

27 years old with 3 years no claims. 2000 Limited miles, But will sit in storage most of the time.

No-one else came close, all other quotes were over £600

Might be worth a try.

Lee

That's good. Do you get agreed value and salvage retention?

Mine was £120 at 26 with no no claims bonus! I couldn't find anyone else close to that

Agreed value, unsure of salvage retention.

Isn't that something that can be argued at the time of a claim though?

They only insure over 25's <_<, I've only just turned 21 and some classic car policies insure 21 and over so I can get one this yer!

mines with them and i was also very happy with the service and price. they will take modded cars but you need to ring them up. does anyone know if you can have a second driver on a classic policy?

also no claims bonus's are not used on a classic policy so you dont need any.

Yes that was with them. I don't think I could afford to insure a second car with anyone else!

Many classic insurers still insist you have at least one year, even if they don't actually use it.

Also if you don't use your NCB for 3 years you lose it.

Phone them, I insured my Mini with Footman James when I was 17!

They don't give NCD though, but this is normal for a classic policy.

Yeah but they've changed this now. Everyone was crying about it on the mini forum a few weeks back.

Has this changed then?

It was always 2 years.... I know because I fell foul of it a few years ago and no-one would honour my full NCB after 2 years and 2weeks of not having a policy (we went down to one car for a while to save money)

It might well be 2 years then.

I only thought 3 because that's how long I had a policy before trying to change, and then finding my NCB gone.

Yes they do mate, I am one as my gti6 didnt sell so i gave it to my mum to use and went as a second driver.

Another recomendation, been with them a few years great service and very cheap.

26, modded 205 gti6, breakdown cover, legal cover, eurpean cover, 2nd driver and agreed value kept on a driveway £200 FC

What is the minimum vehicle age for a classic policy?

It varies as you can imagine, some are 15 some are 20. Just have to read the, usually extensive with a CC policy, T&C's.
