Yes, there is some welding required however I've seen 309's in far worse condition than mine. I was expecting it to be much more rotten that I've actually found it to be.

 

My 205 is now MOT'd and on the road btw and it drives great. Initially the tick over was intermittently rough & the auto choke was particularly tempremental but after recent regular use it seems to have sorted itself out. Happy days : )
