Engine Number On Mi16 Lump - Where Is It?

Recommended Posts

Adrian Flux want to know it for my insurance policy but I can't find it (after a little poke around in the dark at least!)

Cheers.

If you mean the engine code, it's normally on the top of the block on the offside (probably D6C)

If you mean the engine number, it might be on the top next to the code, or more likely it'll be on the back about halfway down on the offside - a 6/7 digit number on a stamped plate.

Of course, in both cases, they could have fallen off...

Cheers Anthony. I do mean the engine number (I think!), as I presume they want it to check in the event of a claim. Although I must admit I haven't queried this.

Assuming the tag hasn't fallen off it's normally on the top rear corner of the block...

An interesting question. Australian authorities were never happy with the tag on XU9 blocks and thus made dealers, usually an apprentice laying on his back, stamp the last six digits of the VIN into the sump parting face, in front of the flywheel.
