306 Tu3 Still Leaking Oil

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

Last weekend i did the hg on the 306 as i thought it was leaking oil from the front left end like they usualy do.

unfortunatly i still have a small leak somewhere else lower down as i keep finding oil building up and dripping from the aircon pump bracket??

its not the cam seals, not had a chance to look at the crank seal yet but i cant see how the oil would get from there to the ac bracket?

any ideals would be welcome ?

It could be leaking from the join in the crankcase (Assuming this is an alloy TU3 and not the iron-blocked one)

It is alloy yes, I assume that's a crank out job then?

To do it properly, you'll want to remove the gearbox - Remember the crank is bolted to the flywheel which is attached to the gearbox primary shaft, the crank wont be going far otherwise!

right after giving it all a good clean to see where the oil is actually coming from it looks as though its either the crank seal or sump or both?

i'll do them both anyway and hope for the best but the question now is where is the best place to buy a crank seal? and do i use a gasket on the sump or just sealant?

also i guess the oil fitler assembly is the thing bolted to the front of the block with the filter itself in the vertical postion on the right of the block?

cheers

pete

Don't use a gasket on the sump - just sealant.

Crank seal should be available from GSF or ECP. Maybe even try pug as they could suprise you.
