After having no luck trying to get parts I have sorta given up, Spoke to a mate of mine that says the head (106xsi 1.6) I am using should fit a 1.6 16v C2 bottom end, Anyone know if this is true?

I feel like I have been shot in the foot here, the engine I had dropped a valve destroying the head and damaging one of the pistons, I have sent it off to a guy that was recommend to me by a mate. It has been in his garage for about 4months now and I have been waiting on a set of pistons for the hole duration of that.

oh its that one, ask sandy, he might be able to sort them for you.

you'll need him to sort the cutouts anyway, personally I;d take the whole engine down to sandy as no doubt he'd like to know what's happened to an engine he had a hand in building (can't remember if he did the whole lot or not)

One thing to watch out for if you use a 16v bottom end with an 8v head: I think the cambelt sprocket on the crank is different between 8v and 16v models, so make sure you use the correct one for your head otherwise you'll end up with a lot of bent valves!
