Apparently I Have An Odd Alarm Issue?!

Recommended Posts

Evening all.

I was awoken in the early hours of this morning by loud banging on the house. I went to the door but nobody was to be seen, so I thought it was the wind (crazy blowy!). Took car to work today fine. This everning I have a knock on the door, lady from over the road says my alarm has gone off 3 nights in a row and woken her each time! Now there is no way in hell it would wake me, I'm partially deaf but the missus has been over last few nights and it hasn't woken her. Also it hasn't gone off long as the battery has still been fine to start the car evey day, and wasn't going off when I went to the door this morning.

The alarm is a toad ai606 I think, and I don't belive there's any motion sensors attached, it's just doors opening and trying to start the car without the fob unlocking that normally would set it off. I gave the car a good shake in case and no alarm. I can't see what would be setting it off? If it was only last night I'd put it down to the wind but not the last 3. Not noticed it go off before ever, except when I'm dicking about. Don't know if it went off when the car was broken in to ages ago even! Also if it went off would it stop of it's own accord? If so how long would it take?

Bit unsure how to fix a problem I have never experianced to be honest, especially as the aalrm wiring is a bit of a mystery to me. Have disconnected the battey tonight on the safe side.

Any suggestions on where to start? Bit of an odd thread I realise as I have no idea what the problem is!

When you came to unlock the car following the alarm having gone off, did it bleep as normal or did it bleep multiple times?

The number of bleeps indicates which sensor triggered the alarm, and I think is explained in the user booklet that was in the pack.

No need to disconnect the battery - just lock the door using the key, and the alarm won't arm - the immobiliser will still be active though and will stop any casual thieving scum. The alarm only arms when you lock it off the fob.

PS. It has a battery backed up siren/alarm and as such a flat or disconnected battery won't stop it if it's armed!

Don't recall the bleeps, but cheers for the heads up.

I'm assuming it's the weather at the mo, it's blowing a gale outside again tonight so not alarming it., will have a better look at weekend when I'll alarm it vernight and try and catch it happening!

Thanks!

I've heard of potential theives setting the alarm off several nights in a row untill you disconnect it, and then steal the car, so Id keep an eye on it.

P.s I bet the old dear from over the road is in on it!

It will be the wind playing havoc with the supersonic sensors, the vibrations and pressure on the glass will beat the air in the car like a drum fooling the hypersonic sensors into thinking something is moving in the cabin.

If it still happens when we get back to non windy weather, check the door sensors are ok, by gently trying to open door when locked, do the same with bonnet and boot, to see if a sensor has corroded away.

Ps, yes I know it's ultrasonic... Not hypersonic and supersonic he he.
