Converting To Earlier Type (Cylinder) Coil?

I'd like to convert my car to use the older type coil mounted on the inner wing as the newer square type I have looks untidy strapped between the carbs (mi16 on twin 45's) and the standard loom is too short to relocate it.

 

At present the car still runs the fuel injection pump and relies on the tach relay. Has anyone done this? Im a bit concerned about messing around with the light green wires for the tach relay as they are shielded and I dont want to screw up any signals by trying to extend them / splice them.

Easy to start again with new wires, you can place the coil anywhere then and the relay can be a normal 4 pin type then
