What Is That Thing ?

What is that small canister under the fuses behind the nearside headlight,I am assuming it does not do much as the connectors on it are well corroded and can't be passing much current.

Sounds like the head light resistor - for dim/dip

Yeah I think the one behind the headlight is the dim / dip and the one on the front panel (behind the bumper) is the cooling fan. Could be t'other way round but either way, it's a resistor of some sort. :lol:

Thanks ,it must be the headlight resistor that must be why my lights are dim (corroded connector) i know it is not the horn beep beep . :rolleyes:

unlikely that is the cause, more likely to be the earth points either side of the radiator that is causing the dim headlamps.

 

the dim-dip resistor simply sends 20% power through the dip beam bulbs when you turn the sidelights on.

How come if one of you sidelights is out then there is no light at all in the headlight? Are you saying when the side light is on, the dip filament in the H4 bulb is running at 20% power. If so, I have never noticed this before!

It's meant to with the ignition on, but the system often doesn't work 20+ years down the line thanks to the joys of French electrics....
