S16 Avac Rpm Opening Times?

Recommended Posts

Nick_j_r

Hi, im new to the 205 and the S16/MI16 engines,

Just trying to get to grips with information about my engine, im unsure if my AVAC system is working correctly,

the diaphrams both open as soon as i touch the throttle, and then stay open. I have used the search function to try and find information on this inlet system but there seems to be a lot of different answers.

Information im after..

- what RPM's should the diaphrams open/close?

- is there a detailed write up about this inlet that i have missed?

Thanks, Nick

Thanks mate, so they close after 5080rpm..

are these opened lower in the rev range to give more torque low down?

I don't think it is, I still haven't seen anyone back up that claim!

granted they have a larger throttle body and less moving parts, but that's it.

I would condsider swapping for a gti-6 inlet! This AVAC seems a pain. I think throttle bodies would be epic! what is involved in swapping for a gti-6?
