Mi16 Oil Pressure

Recommended Posts

im trying to get a answer here as to what oil pressure a 1905 mmi16 should hold at working temp idle say900 rpm and again at say 3000 rpm. many posts ive seen on here say as little as 30 psi at idle wich is 2bar a lot say even newly rebuilt units show poor pressure at idle so come on all you mi16 drivers whats right one and a half bar at idle or should it be a lot higher many thanks peter

Are you using a proper (mechanical) oil pressure gauge, or the standard OE unit?

The standard unit is pretty hopeless from an accuracy point of view frankly.

Generally speaking, something around 1-2 bar at idle and 4-5 bar at 4000rpm is normal for a standard 1.9 Mi16.

ok theres a engine im thinking of buying i asked chap what oil pressure was at idle when unit was at working temp hes reply was 30 psi approx that about one and a half bar on pug gauge so this would seem right i thought this seems low on a very low miles unit

Just echoing what anthonys said really but my mi doesn't even register on the gauge at hot idle, it was rebuilt 3k ago. It's the gauge sender at fault, they can't be trusted!

A better question to be asking is why was it rebuilt? Was it just tiered or had it spun a shell?
