Thinking about it. If you dont know the history of the beam. The cars are well old now and because of how they are engineered. If you intend keeping the motor and having it as close to mint as possible then its probably best to have a complete rebuild, then if you get a quality job done then it should last the life of the car.

That does depend on what type of bushes you fit, if you re-grease the bearings every year or so im sure it would last a good amount of time.

Mine's lasted 5 years so far without any maintenance, I've had the arms off a few times swapping various bits around and inspected it but it's never required any work.

 

Argument waiver - the above is an observation of my own beam and does not apply to all - yours may be f***ed.

Just stripping a rear beam in a RR car but it originally came from my previous stage prepared car. Loads of grit and grease but it needs new shafts, bearings and seals.(which I have just collected from Peugeot dealer) One shaft is flush with the arm the other appears to be recessed and been welded (presumably to prevent it twisting?) Any ideas which one is correct and why are they different?
