Pricing A Second Hand Engine/box

Hi I have a some spare engines an XU 1.9 and an XU 1.6 motor and gearbox.

 

Both work (so im told) and are in average condition

 

What do these normally go for. I was thinking aroung the £150-200 for engine and box.

 

What do people look for when it comes to buying these. A rough idea would be good!

Without any warranty or "knowns" I think you'll be lucky to get that. I sold a 1600 8v for something like £60-70 from memory, and considered that appropriate (ie. what I expected for it). Was just a seen-running 1600 straight out of a fairly straight car but, ultimately, no history or warrantry of any kind - just a set of numbers from a compression test and a 'seen it running' video to prove it was working when it was in the car.

 

edit: mind you that was just the engine, not a box - so add on £30 with a box included.

1.9 engine's are around the £150.00 if a known running unit, the 1.6 is pretty much worthless, I just scrap them as demand is very very low

Worth? bugger all! As miles said pretty much scrap these days. Most i've ever paid for an engine is £25...
