Why insure it if it's off the road?

If it is in a garage SORN it and that's it.

Just spoken to the subborn barstard on the phone and after planning to put it up on (and buying 4 new) axle stands, he says he needs to be able to move it so can't leave it up on stands

That's no bloody different to leaving it in my garage at home!

I would fill the tank aswell if your going to be leaving it for 2 years, the more petrol the less space for water to build due to condensation.

Or take the tank off...

I wouldn't, you will just have a full tank of stale fuel to get rid of rather than a bit. Allied to the fact that it is a plastic tank I would leave it with not much in.

Jeez, what a selfish old bastard  You try to do him a favour by taking up space in his garage and he throws it right back in your face!

just park it and leave it, but budget for a major service when you get back

leave it with very litle fuel, plenty oil, plenty anti freeze

when you come back, new battery, new timing belts, tyre will have gone off (brittle) even if you've taken them off

try and keep it clean, dry and damp free (you get moisture trap stuff from b&q etc.

:P He's got plenty of space!

I will be budgeting for a major service anyway, the main thing was I was hoping to save the tyres! :( Already got a moisture trap and all those bits and bobs.

Theft.

Unless of course it's covered under the garage/house contents' insurance.

He still has business insurance from when it used to be a working workshop/body shop so that's okay.

I took it up there this morning. Had a faultless drive, bit of fun along the twisties before giving it a wash and polish and putting it away.

It ended up in the spraybooth, on the wheels rather than stands but as long as he keeps moving it like he says he will, it should be okay.

Very sad day :(

Haha fortunately he is with us for Christmas so it will be staying put for at least a week  One plus side is I will get about £100 back from the tax.

I guess the car will be the last thing on my mind when I get down to Lympstone in 2 weeks!
