Rally Car Misfire

Recommended Posts

jon.ford

I have a 1.9 road rally car that started missing would, not pick up and would only idol two rally's ago, I pushed in all plugs leads etc and it ran okay until end of rally. After rally I changed dizzy cap, leads, rotor arm, coil, ignition coil and low tension lead, ran car about all was okay, started my last rally running okay until I got to start line of first competitive section, it did exactly the same thing missing won't pick up thing, It cleared it's self after a few minutes and run okay until. I parked up a bank with broken rack wishbone and drive shaft. Any ideas what to try next.

Thank hope posted this in correct place don't often use forums.

Hi Jon

Sounds like classic symptoms of a knackered air flow meter to me. I have previously experienced the same fault/symptoms. A new one is expensive, but so is retiring from an event. All the second hand ones are 20yr+ old by now so the second hand route is a bit of a lottery.

Regards Tom

Ignition amp? Possibly the alternator!

Changed amp for new one before last event, alternator new two events ago.

One could be faulty, nothing lasts long rattling down rough welsh country lanes.

Thanks Jon

More likely the insides are worn out, ie the weights/bushings etc
