Gutted!

I have found out that my friends driveway has had several items stolen, namely, a set of my 1.9 gti wheels, a spare wheel of his, a reel of hosepipe (yes...) and some scrap metal which was going to the tip!

The worst part is, the 1.9 wheels weren't really, mine, as I had agreed a deal for a swap for some 14' tyres with a fellow forum member, so now I feel gutted. They were being stored there until we were abel to meet up.

Bloody Gutted.

That's crap but what made you think items would be safe if left on one's driveway though?

Anyone can help themselves to what they feel like.

I have also had my driveway cleared of all metal  Amongst the parts stolen were a set of 205 alloy wheels which had been sold to a mate. It wasnt untill he came to collect them that i realised they were missing. Foutuanately i was able to recover the alloys from the local metal recyling centre.

Was my own fault for leaving them on the driveway. Sad times we live in where everything you own has to be locked up.

If a gyppo sees "scrap" metal left outside a house they automatically assume it's either been left for them or isn't wanted. Precisely the reason I store anything I want to keep hold of in my back garden or garage!

Although, I wouldn't leave four alloys on my drive!? You wouldn't leave two twenty pound notes or four cases of beer out would you?

I remember reading on VWVortex about Caddy Mk1 build (VR6 4motion  ) - the guy came out his house after he heard some noise to find two gypos trying to drag it off his drive with a hiab truck as they 'thought is was scrap, and nobody wanted it'

I lesson learnt unfortunately, you won't keep stuff on your drive again :(

This thieving Gypo business is terrible. Saying you shouldn't leave stuff on your own property is like saying that girls shouldn't go out wearing a mini skirt.

I mean to come and drag somone old car off their driveway is just disgraceful (I read the Caddy tale at the time, and was absolutely shocked. It was his neighbour who stopped them by the way).

If more people did what Tony Whatsisname did (the farmer who shot and killed a Gypo who was burgling him) then may be they'd start to learn not to f***ing steal off people's property. They're vermin, and they need to be culled.

Edit: Tony Martin?

Are you advocating the use of deadly force against unarmed people of no fixed abode.

I'm advocating the use of any force necessary to stop thieving scumbags, whether that be Gypos, chavs, or whatever.

They keep snooping around my Peugeots in the drive. They come right up the drive way to have a good look too, they keep knocking on the door asking if I need them taken away.

Everytime I hear a diesel ticking over outside I rush out to make sure it's not them pinching anything :(

A good friend of mine who has had the delight at being in one of her majesties hotel, had a room mate who was fed up with having his cars stolen so he connected part of his car upto the mains. Lets just say the car thief never stole again possibly due to death lol!!!

I agree any metal left out side of anywhere will be taken, the metal prices are still good.

The problem is they get F all for doing it. I had metal stole out of work and someone got the van reg. It was stopped not too far away. Man and woman in the cab. They had a stand with 'currys' on it [which was abit obvious] along with my scrap. They said they just 'found it along the road! In the end in court she got let off and he got a 7 month suspended sentence!! Have to keep it all inside now along with waste oil, yes they steal that too!!

Stealing waste oil reminds me of the time when i had a council contract to re plumb some old peoples bungalows. I had to rip out all the old rusty galvanised pipes and replace with copper. As the old galv pipes were worthless in those days i hired a large skip to get put the old stuff in. The work lasted for about a month and the skip was at the side of these bungalows on some grass. The skip was full and i rung the firm to come and tak it away but as it was a bank holiday week end they could not get it till Tuesday. Over the week end a Transit lorry pulled up and two blokes cleared the skip and on Tuesday i found it empty. The barsteds, i paid £40 for the skip, i should have just left the pipes on the grass. Knowing my luck though no body would have took it!

Can i just explain, my garage is at the back of my house and cannot be seen from the main road. The alloys were next to the garage covered in a dust sheet.
