Yep. Wiseco offer 8.5 and Wossner offer 8.3 compression ratio for forced induction system. I dont wanna go to low like that. I'm thinking to custom made to wiseco with 10:1.

 

Which brand are you thinking.

Right on! No low compression slug, high compression with proper engine management is the only way to go.

With higher comp you should get more power with less boost. I was running standard comp before so will be exactly the same, only now ill be running a bit more boost.

is it safe to run more compression with boost? i always thought you had to use low comp pistons with a turbo build

depends what fuel you use, how much boost you use, what plugs you use, how well you can control spark fuel and boost with the management, inlet temperatures, etc etc. Ideally you want to run the absolute highest CR you can for you desired power, just on the edge of det.

VW 2.0 TFSI as an example runs 11-1, though that is direct injection and modern management, so has a far higher degree of control.

As said by Alex and confirmed by Welshpug, high compression and boost work very well. If i was to lower the comp i'd need more boost to make the same power. It would more than likely be gutless low down as well.

Update time!

 

Ill let the pictures do the talking. Its taken a long time getting this done, all that's left is some testing to try out different spring rates. I'm currently running 400lb at the rear and 500lb upfront but I have plenty to choose from. The forged engine build is taking a little longer than we expected so I have fitted another standard lump for now. Its not something to be rushed and it'll be worth the wait :D

Any reasons why they wouldn't be?. Certainly do a good job on westfields/caterhams etc

The ones I have seen aren't to shy around corners yes!. I'm not in a position to be spending 1k+ on top end shocks so these will do for now.

BOSSSSS! that is a wicked project. Very keen to do inderpendent rear in mine. Did you just ditch the factory torsion bars and keep the ARB?

Its not independent more like semi-independent.

 

Yes i have totally removed the torsion bars and ARB. Shouldn't need that with the spring rate i'm using.

What holds your trailing on?

 

The trailing arms have been machined on the inside to accept a side contact bearing. A shaft runs down the beam tube which is tapped at each end. Then its just bolted through the bearing to load them up.

 

Not weigh the torsion bars and ARB but i have saved a lot of weight too which is a bonus!
