might work better if you pop the standard exhaust in? wont be blowing as much of the boost down the exhaust then.

This was kind of why I asked about the variable timing.

If you ever have it on the rollers again I would personally try a power run with and without the variable timing. If nothing else it will be interesting to see the difference over the torque curve. What you may find is that it might be better to switch the timing at different points in the rev range. I am not familiar with Omex but at a guess it is not much more than a matter of some software changes on a laptop?

just down to pulley size at the minute. Im having a billet crank pulley made and might have them reduce the size to 140mm instead of 150mm to drop the boost a little.

Haha, then after 2 track days you'll be having a 160mm pulley made up!

Hopefully catch up with you on a trackday mate, very interested to see it.

surly bigger is better with superchargers.

my old scooby ran miles better when the 3" stainless was fitted,it was restricting the exhaust flow before hand.

I was referring to the cam not the exhaust itself.

Ill give it a try if i ever do a rolling road day. Its simple to do anyway.

The software will only allow you to set 1 point at which it will turn on/off. So vtec on above 2500 rpm in my case.

haha defo not. Im going to see how well this performs/lasts :D If it blows up ill decide on a forged engine or another standard lump depending on how long it lasts!!. If i go forged ill just fit a smaller pulley on the charger, im at 100mm now which is 1 of the biggest they do. When i had it on my 106 (forged TU engine) i had it on a 80mm pulley, that made 18 psi

Another thing to keep in mind. The car made 306bhp at the rev limit, power was still rising. We saw 320 odd with the rev limiter set at 7850 but kept the revs down to 7000 rpm due to boost levels getting too high!. With a forged engine, bigger cams, solid lifters, smaller pulley i was told to expect well over 400bhp

The mapper was really impressed with the rotrex s/c, he has a 600bhp escort cosworth wrc car and was getting very excited by the way superchargers deliver the power. I think i may have converted him!!.

Update!!!

Bought some AP's, bells and disks to give me some more stopping power. Ive not had any issues with the standard gti 180 setup but these are a lot lighter and should have more bite!!

I also decided to give my Rota Attacks a refurb, done in a FIAT gunmetal grey colour which is pretty much the same as original. Got 4 A048's ready to go on :D

I was doing 1.46 - 1.48's with no traffic, thats with a mate doing the timing. Anything under 1.45 will be nice :D

Great build! Love it!

I remember you and the car at the donington gp trackday last year. Looked very clean and tidy and went well.

Planning to do a similar tidy up rebuild on mine later this year, just deciding what to do engine wise now.

Did you get any good pics from your Cadwell trackday?

My mate got a few pics. No vids though :(

Been meaning to update the thread anyway. I had a issue with the supercharger belt coming off, the bracket is inline so need to look into the pulley positioning. Ive managed to move them around and it seems to be better, if this doesn't work im going back to the auto tensioner. The main problem is i cant test it out with it not being road legal. I dont want to book another trackday and only get 5 laps in again!!.

A few pics

More work done to the car? can't wait to see these do you have any more finer details about the conversion you could share with us like what mounts you made n how, who shortened your driveshafts and what dials you are using and why etc? I would like to use the standard dials is this possible with the omex ecu? not bothered if not as yours look mint in the pic.

I'm a pain for questions but like the finer details makes for neater work and saves money as I don't have a job at the min, engine should be here in the next few days now, bought a welder, making a list for respraying the engine bay but looking not that more expensive to get garage to do it at the min???? it's gonna cost about £70 just for materials then I have to do it right? oh and a gas heater to warm the workshop and keep it dry.
