I think it might melt the plastic, not sur though, I was not brave enough to try it on mine.

I just rubbed the cap with a brillo pad type thing and then resprayed over the top, came out fine.

Nitro Mors will do no damage. Brake fluid will take a lifetime.

Careful with this :excl: I put Nitromors into a margarine tub, stupidly thinking because the cap on the tin was plastic then any plastic would be ok.

I set to work on getting the paint off some copper rad pipework in my house and the next thing I knew I had Nitro all over my hands/floor and clothes.

When I looked it had eaten right through the margarine tub!!! Literally ate through it! It bl%%dy burns on the skin as well.

I think Nitromors will attack the plastic. I've always used brake fluid...worth keeping used brake fluid just for this. Takes paint off plastic without eating into or softening it....yes it can take a while, depending on the paint. It loses its "bite" after a while, so best to slap some on with an old paint brush, leave it for a while....but NOT long enough for it to dry out. If it dries out, it has hardly any effect. Whilst it's still wet, rinse it under running ware & scrub it with a nail brush. If it needs redoing, make sure it's absolutely dry first...water dilutes the brake fluid. This is a great use for used brake fluid, doesn't burn your hands either. It is quite flammable though

I left mine in some thinners for about half an hour and took the paint right off nice and clean but no damage to the plastic caps.
