Relatively Cheap Project Car Suggestions?

Hello all!

It's been a long time since I've been on here because I get depressed that I can't afford to own a car, but my dads just got some good news about a new job and I'm thinking of starting a project with him

Just thought I'd come on and see if you guys might have a few ideas on cars to look out for/where to look? and just a bit of general advice really.

 

He's really into the traditional classics (MG, Triumph, Jaguar etc) but I figure these are all pretty expensive?

I'm thinking more along the lines of something practical but interesting which could possibly be my graduation present in a few years time..maybe something like a 205GTI to replace the one I had to sell

 

basically I'm all ears for suggestions atm and if anyone knows about restoration costs etc. that'd be really helpful too.

 

oh yeh and sorry if this has been mentioned before..I know how tetchy ppl get about not using the search function!
