I too would like to know people's experiences with different oil coolers. My Mocal has split after only 18 months. How important is the way you mount them? I managed to secure 3 corners, but not the fourth - I suspect this may have been part of the cause. (Mocal do say to secure all 4 corners, to be fair).

Also, I see Merlin sell anti-vibration mounts? These any good?

how did you secure them? firmly bolted or on rubber blocks?

the former will lead to cracking due to the expansion that happens when hot oil travels through the alloy core.

Just firmly bolted - metal to metal - didn't realise this could cause the problem like you describe WP. I only thought the rubber blocks were to damp vibrations. I will definitely get some of these then when I fit a new cooler. Cheers.

Bolting the cooler straight to the body will cause it to vibrate excessively and eventually crack so get some rubbers on there.

Mocal don't make the best coolers, it seems they came up with a design and manufacturing process 30 years ago and have point blank refused to deviate from it since. If you're looking for something a little nicer i would go with a Setrab one, they're much better quality and you can change the fittings without changing the cooler.
