Personal preference more than anything for me, I prefer the 3 doors because the front doors are nice and long.

When I had my 5dr diesel last winter I was bloody suprised how small the doors were when I got in it for the first time!

Saves having to keep getting out and flipping the seat though!

Nowt wrong with a 5 door :)

Not sure if it could be classed as a sleeper though, for that it would need skinny black steels, no GTI valance etc.

I love that, standard 5 doors look awful - yours and the rare GT's make up for it imo, I'd love a 5 door that looked like that.

thats just a gt with rallye steels isnt it? and lowered a bit? the GT came with a GTi front valance. It is in essence a 5dr xs in every way apart from they didnt seem to come with locking fuel caps as standard lol.

either way I gues theyre a bit of a marmite situation

I love 'em and if nobody else does that'll keep the price down for me :P

although give it 5years or so and I recon 3doors will be the new 'non sunroof' and more people will be using 5 doors for track etc

Well, if we want to be pedantic, its actually a GR. 1.6 TU engine with 45mm throttle bodies etc etc, was 132bhp a few years ago but has had numerous tweaks since then, including a nicely ported cylinder head by Mark Shilibar at SRD. SHould be knocking on the door of 150bhp now hopefully. Bilstein 'Challenge' spec suspension with 19mm torsion and rear ARB.

It's currently laid up in the garage SORN'd as with the other half expecting a sprog and having recently bought a house, shes had to unfortunatly take a back seat for the moment.

Oh and it has a locking fuel cap!
