205 Gti Vehicle Inquiry

I'm still on the hunt for a 205, I came across this one local to me, Basically just to see if it rung a bell with any on here ?

 

Only had a few owners so I think I'm gonna have a spy when I have time.

 

Is there anything in particular to look out for.

Inner wings

Front panel

Sills esp at the bottom of the door pillars ie mid way. Wheel arches , all around petrol tank area , floor and inner wings. Font around head light area. Theres more and i'am sure some of the others on here will point out more.

Does not look a disaster for 350.

 

Check everything works and look at the boot floor.

It is only £350 so you need to be realistic with your expectations. e.g. don't expect very much, and be prepared to be disappointed.

 

Rot wise, most are covered above,

 

Inner wings, check from above and also from under wheel arch

Sills, around B pillar, at front edge of rear wheelarch also

Boot floor

Headlight panels

Beneath rear seat

 

Also check all other areas, if it has at some time been damaged often these areas 10 years later can rot out due to inadequate rust protection when repaired.

 

Obviously it is also going to need either a beam rebuild or a refurbed beam to swap over.

Rot free shells are out there,

 

I got an unfinished project for £550.

 

Its only blemishes where a couple of 1" sized holes in the floor where the sunroof had leaked I guess.

I'm not too fussed mechanically as I have my own 205 here.

 

I intend using the engine from mine anyway plus whatever else I require.

 

I'm basically looking for the shell to be solid so fingers crossed.

awright mate, i got that guy down to £280 just by emailing him asking about the car. that was last week , i was going to buy it for parts.

Aye a did see it before, Surely not to keen to sell or he would answer the phone you would think.

 

The car had only had a 3 owners and seemed fair enough priced.
