Air Filter Boxes

Recommended Posts

Just out of curiosity saying as my Phase 1.5 1990 1.6 Gti already had a aftermarket air filter convertion fitted when I bought it, is there difference to which Air Box and Pipes I would need to get if I wanted to change it back to a standard Airbox etc ie would a Phase 1&2 fit or would I need a chassis number to find out which one was fitted?

Thx for the quick reply m8 thinking about changing it back to standard to see if helps idle jumping between 1500 and 600 rpm on idle changed and cleaned everything else even Peugeot says common prob on them turn the idle to 1200 and it will level itself out pmsl should only idle about 850-900 rpm

Thought of that already and replaced it about 4 years ago with a reconditioned one and didnt make any difference which is whats leading me to the increased air flow through the air filter making the the engine surge, it does seem tostabilise if I turn the mixture up but then it fails the M.O.T. so back down it goes lol no win situation.

if the afm is known to be good then it shiuld just be a case of setting up the system properly from scratch, the air filter shouldnt cause any issues
