Me too!

The multiplexed one you have in for sale would be perfect as I have everything else, but it is too early as I can't afford the charger kit atm :(

I have the 70k engine in the car i have now, i'll break that up as soon as you're ready Keith. ;)

That does look a good 'un, and i know excatly what you mean! Hence i'll always by the ones that have damage or issues, it's an easier decision then and won't mean i sit on it procrastinating about breaking a good car!!

Daft as it sound its better than our families 2 daily runners. lol

The seller barely said a word and walked off shaking his head when he found out what I'm up to with it!

I may run it over the winter, not sure yet?

Why not! They're a nice car, should do you well! If mine wasn't beyond economic repair i'd continue using it, comp. tested it last night, 225 across all four. :)

You probably shouldn't have told the seller it was to be a 'donor'.:ph34r:

Interesting/different colour that too!

I bought a mint p2 vts a few months ago for the brakes, rack and engine, paid peanuts for it really. It failed MOT and the guy wanted rid ASAP due to a new work car. It needed a droplink for the mot! Still regret breaking that car :(

Hideous, HIDEOUS beasts! That looks like a tidy example though. Mine was a rotter cosmetically, so no shame in tearing it apart. Are those wheels on all the P2 VTS's? Mine had the same but I'd never seen that style before so didn't know if they were original.

Don't forget that upper engine mount will need changing as well as a loom from an earlier model as part of the conversion. You'll need different sensors in the thermostat housing as well, and depending how early/late the loom you get is you'll need a MAP sensor with a different shape plug also.

The Ph2 are horrid, I quite liked my Ph1 though, "Sports Coupé" as my mates called it.

I wouldn't say they are an ugly car (OK, so the front end is perhaps borderline!), they are just an acquired taste. A bit like Marmite. But the 306 is a much easier decision - in comparisson, the 306 is undoubtedley a nice looking car. But compare the Xsara to an early Hyundai coupe. The Hyundai has always been an awkwardly proportioned, odd looking car IMO, yet at it's release the press were heralding it's styling as being like a mini Ferrari!

I do like the fact that the Xsara is a sleeper, straight out the box. Slap a charger on that and have fun embarrassing rep mobiles B)

As Anthony said, it's just like the BX 16v the way things have turned out. Again, the BX wasn't an awful looking car in retrospect, it was just a little bit awkward. Were the old DS' and other old Citroen's as unloved as these? As they were always odd looking cars too, yet they were fantastic technology at the time and look amazing these days

Odd looking doesn't necessarily mean ugly, but the long & flat-ended nose with a comically large badge in the grille, oversized headlights, wheels that look like TSW's bought out of the back of a Max Power magazine in 1996 and a waistline that sits so much wider than the track make it ugly. The DS was weird, but still had well sculpted lines and proportions. To me it's like the difference between a Picasso painting and some scribbly-collage mess made by a 6 year old in art class that "on paper" is the same thing.

[edit]Seems one of my shift keys is funked...

Xsara's are not *that* bad from a looks point of view, particularly in VTR/VTS trim.

Christ, they're an object of beauty compared to just about every *07/*08 Peugeot that appear to have been designed to look like Cherie Blair's sex face - ugly to the point of being repulsive frankly. In fact, I'd say that the Xsara VTS is more attractive than just about anything Peugeot have made in the past decade or so - including the so called "pretty looking" RCZ
