Heated Windscreens

Hi all, has anyone had one fitted or any experience with them from such companys as www.heatedwindscreen.com are they worth the £200 odd or just prevail with the old scraper?

I organised a group buy through them a few years ago, they're brilliant quality. Whether it's worth it or not is down to personal preference but remember you're not just getting the benefit on frosty mornings, you're getting it every time it's damp / chilly / your shoes are wet / there's people breathing in the car as it does a much better job of clearing the screen of mist than the blower does.

I also organised a group buy of some a few years ago, they are great, you really can't go wrong, unless you break them, it seems impossible to ship more than one piece of glass without at least one breakage, the manufacturer broke one of mine while loading!

Oh, I forgot to add - I was talking to the guy from www.heatedwindscreen and everyone in the UK gets their windscreens through him anyway so there's no chance of getting them cheaper elsewhere! Well, not unless the seller is making a loss!

Might be time to organise another group buy?

They might be the exclusive importer for one manufacturer of heated screens but the ones I got were from http://www.uroglas.com/heated.html and they get them direct from the factory with their name by the compliance marking as the manufacturer. You need to take those sorts of claims with a pinch of salt Cameron

I had a heated screen on an Escort turbo i once owned and at the time they were quite a new idea. Great bit of kit, could defrost very quickly but the down side was i had a stone come up and cracked it. The replacment was very expensive but it was insured so it did not matter to me. The time it takes me to defrost my work van with its megga screen takes ages, i wish that had it. I would be interested in one too for my rally 205 if the regs allow as its far better then the old blower.

Uroglas were the supplier for my group buy, too.;)

Not www.heatedwindscreens.com as you said earlier then?

The point still stands though, Uroglas isn't the only company importing heated screens.

Was that through the fella Ricky Evans that used to have a group A rally 205 by any chance?

Yep, who got them direct from Uroglas!

From what I was told, Uroglas are the only people supplying screens for 205's.

Cheers chaps. How much cheaper did it work out with a group buy? I swear there was a guy who would come to you and fit them for you.

You'll have to do a search in the Group Buys forum, I can't remember how much they were but there's a thread in there that will tell you everything.

As mentioned here I have arranged a group buy for 205 heated front windscreens. Sadly the numbers are very limited so I am allocating them on a first come first served basis.

Price will be £106 including vat, so thats about half what they normally cost. Delivery of them all to me will be free but you will need to arrange a courier to get them from me or preferably (due to risk of damage in transit) collect them in person from Essex.

At the moment there are four available, if you want one and are in a position to pay pretty much immediately then post below. Don't PM me about this please, just post here.

BOOM!

Obviously with the current economic climate they may have increased.

I would say so! I bought one from the group buy that Cameron did ( after that group buy ), and they were more than that!

Edit: at £106 I may be interested in one!

There was another one done by Gazza I think and he got quoted near the current retail price and for 15 units it was £125 inc VAT ea.

I think thats the one I got mine from. Cameron took it over in the end. There was also a slight mess up when the vat was not inc or something. I remember it being more like £175 each. Read that whole thread :)

Edit: here is the thread My link

Looked like fun!

I've sent them an email so we'll have to see what we can get and for how much.
