What Is The Saddest Piece Of Peugeot Memorabilia You Have?

Recommended Posts

Henry Yorke

Over the years I have collected some sh*te just because it was available and I was wondering (or wandering as they say on eBay!) what items others have got.

I have quite a few Peugeot model cars, brochures, Peugeot Sport original documents, FIA Homologation papers. I did bid on a Kris Meeke 207 S200 front bumper on ebay, but was outbid. I have 2 lone Gutmann wheels, some Gutmann harness pads, some PTS sew on patches, original GTI Club membership pack and stickers, most of the old 205 GTI Club (now Torque) magazines, a collection of headlight protectors, even an 80's Peugeot BMX. I have some quirky bits on my Green Skip like Euro Gentry gear knob, BX green clock, headlight dimmer switch, front fog switch, euro dials, sill covers.

But probably the geekiest item I have is my early 80's, 100% polyester, slim fit tie!!

I have seen people with old dealer jackets etc, but what have you got in your collections?

I had a jacket at some point & also have a tie somewhere (from working at a Dealership),

A swish lighter (given as a gift)

I'm sure i have a set of 'those' Salt & Pepper mills somewhere!

A few rare posters & stickers previously only seen in dealers!

None of which i've ever gone out of my way for i'm afraid!!

I have a pair of seats with "Timo" embroidered on one and "Salonen" on the other. Quite possibly out of one of the T16 rally cars. They are carbon kevlar and weigh next to nothing. Had them fitted to my car for a while. Very comfortable seats :)

My mate found a Matchbox (I think) model T-16 in the street, picked it up and gave it to me as a present. Does that count?

I was thinking only last night i'm suprised I don't have any 'memorabilia' as such. I remember finding myself in a Peugeot dealership open day many years ago before I was driving or ever owned a Peugeot. I had a catalogue of dealership items like flags, floor mats etc. I get the impression it was the sort of booklet you weren't supposed to take with you. But I always used to pick up random things when dragged to these things as a child when my family were in the trade. I may even have it somewhere as I am a bit of a hoarder.

Thinking about it I would like a large lion floor mat.

I'll admit to having a 205 T Shirt, that I have actually worn outside in public before.

Might post a picture of me wearing it later for you all to admire.

ive got loads of peugeot t-shirts/hats/gloves/jackets/socks/ties and even some overralls.

a untold number of keyrings/pens/cups (could do with a new haynes one ;) christmas prezzie) and some of them pepper grinders.

loads of posters/brochures and some "club 205 gti" bits 'n bobs.

a silly number of models including 4 1:18 205s (white, red, black, silver (but still cant find a topaz one)) 15ish 1:43 205s ( a mix of colours) and a 3 door 405 turbo 16 1:24.

also got a dealers mat and some flags (from dealer size to some little hand side ones) and 4 of them stupid "peugeot parking only" signs.

i did miss out on some peugeot tools last month on ebay....

A car show I went to recently had a load of used Peugeot mechanics overalls. £5 each.

I expect I probably could have sold a fair few on come to think of it

I oddly received a T shirt in the post yesterday from designstuffonline. No idea who ordered/sent it but addressed to me. Big GTI across the front. I'm a sad enough person to start wearing it in public!

I did manage to get Kris Meeke to sign the back of my 205 rally car at the McRae stages 2 years ago but it sadly got washed away with the mud (I was running last 2WD car having broken the gear linkage and he was first 4WD car so was queued up behind me). He politely declined my offer of swapping cars.

I'm a 205 fan rather than a Peugeot fan so my only memorabilia was my car!

I was actually looking at this earlier on, and it dawned on me then that 'lifesize' is over cooking it a bit.

So I then measured the car, it's 7 ft wide, just looks bigger due to the fact it takes up so much wall!!!

I have a few T Shirts and hats. Model 205, 306,309,207 and 406’s on my desk at work. Posters etc.

But the largest Peugeot memorabilia I own is an old outside Peugeot dealership sign. The one before the new re-branding. It’s the one with the chrome back with the light up white lion and a smaller one saying. Peugeot the drive of your life. Takes up a lot of wall space ( Very heavy)….. It’s wired up too

My local dealer has just closed. I went on the scavenge and unfortunately they had cleared everything out and skipped some stuff. Peugeot were coming for the dealer signs later that day :(
