Allways Check What You're Buying

It's not that bad!

So it needs a load of standard 205 issues sorting and a rear caliper, tank needs pipes checking and probably an ignition amp..

Clearly it's hard to know without both the whole story and the original advert, but assuming what is written there is accurate, it strikes me that the buyer was very naive buying a used 20 year old highish mileage car that's been heavily messed around with unseen and expecting absolutely no issues.

Hell, those lights alone should have had the alarm bells ringing loud and clear

agree with anthony. you wouldnt buy a pair of shoes without trying them on, should have took it a road test and either walked away or negotiated a lower price. thats assuming the original ad didnt describe the faults.

"Allways Check What You're Buying"

Now excuse me if I'm missing something, but is this not from page 2 of the "What to do in life" manual, just after "Wipe your ar$e after you have a poo"??????

What are the wheels??They actually look okay!:).......As already said its a 20year old car that has been modified poorly by the look of it.Having said that though with a bit of loving and a few pennies spent it could be a lovely car again.Would be a shame if the new buyer just strips it down to sell the bits....which is often the case these days.

i bought mine on a whim, only paid 600 for it and with known issues and i knew what i was letting myself in for and too be fair its just electrical gremlins i have but the engine is sound,

always see before you buy, ebay is always like this, people concentrate more on bidding rather than going to see what your bidding on.

The wheels are called 'Lasers', they are standard peugeot fit on 306 S16's and the later 405 MI16 2.0.

Its easy to say look at what your buying and it does make good sense. How ever you can some times, no matter how thorough you go over a car miss a few things.

I was very silly once when i was younger and looked over a Ford via street lights. I drove the car and it went well, every thing worked and the body work was not perfect but i knew that. I was buying this as a temp run around i could sell on after but i missed the shiney new underseal hiding the rotton floor pan. It was not worth repairing as it was too far gone, i had signed a bit of paper sold as seen and frankley i'd been had. My own fault though, lost £200 and got £25 for scrap :)

I always remember my dad selling a car by the flood light on the drive on a dark raining night!!

It wasn't a dud motor, my old man's a straight shooter and wouldn't do something like that (plus he's a vicar and wouldn't agree with it either) but the fella buying the car was happy to buy it on a rainy dark night, pay cash and drive it away...?? Nutter!!

I bought my last GTi blind of the Internet, from someone I don't know, from a city a looooong way away. I sent a driver with a brown envelope of cash to bring it back.

Turned out good though.

My CTI came from a blind bid on eBay and a train journey to get it. I know of people who have spent every other weekend treking to the isle of man and Ireland to look at 205's to find the right one. I'm a bit more impulsive than that!

The guy who bought my Nissan Almera a few years ago literally turned up and handed me £800 as soon as he got out of the car. I made him take it for a test drive before signing any paperwork so he knew what he was buying - not that there was anything wrong with it. I just felt weird letting it go so easily.

I've bought almost all my cars off ebay, has been a bit hit and miss, but then again, its generally quite cheap compared to buying from other places
