Sports Catalytic Converters

Recommended Posts

christopher

I guess we are lucky that most of our 205s don't have cats. However...

I need a new catalytic converter for my 405 T16. I am considering one of these from Jetex, or custom chrome. They come in 100,200 or 400 substrate.

Question is how effective are these? They are designed for racing regulations. Does anyone have experience with these and the MOT.

Lots of people in the Jap scene use them, and I think they get through MOTs fine.

You would have thought. But it is hard to get a decent answer from people. I spoke to demon tweaks and some place local here in Denmark.

They say they are designed for the rally and race regulations which are not as strict as the ones for the road. So they have no idea how it will fair with a MOT test

My 205 v6 has a sport cat, my MOT emmissions were 0.3% and a pass :)

I had one fitted to my v6 406 coupe, it passed the MOT, just!!!

If you get one don't go for the 100, I had a 200 and that's why I only just passed test.

They do give you an increase though... As good as a decat if you ask me!!

Really depends on the spec of the MOT, I know here you don;t need one for the MOT as there's a nice loophole in the test, then the Non cat test applies to cars from 1992 to around 96 from memory

100 allows the most exhaust emission to flow through, so go for that

Less likely to pass an mot with a 100 cell race cat. 200 minimum for a road car.
