I assume this has been covered before but cant search on my phone.

Although this is a bit off beat on here, what with it being diesel, i'll ask anyway as im sure there's a few derv lovers on here!

 

What would be needed in regards to time and cost to push one of these engines upto 130bhp?! And fit it into a 205, maybe even a petrol model.

I looked into fitting one in my cj a while back, some of you may remember the topic.

 

Help/advice comments please!

I had a 306 Dturbo once that had a bigger intercooler and a pump tweak which gave 117bhp.

 

It was considerably faster than my mates ZX dt with the same, standard, motor.

 

Shouldn't be too hard to get up to 130. My i/c was top mounted, but if you could fit it below the rad I'm sure the pump would take a bit more.

Im going to be going for a large front mount cooler so that should help, im not fussed about 'trimming the bumper'!!

 

How do you go about tweaking the pump? I tweaked the one on my xu7 engine but that had a lucas pump not bosch.

 

Just to confirm aswell, these engines are 90bhp in standard form?

92 bhp for most 1.9's, bosch pump is far easier to play with.

dave you want a 1.9 dt with a bosch and preferably a t2 as they can be pushed that bit harder. Also as said a nice FMIC will help but not essential as 130 has been hit with a top mount no problems. People are quite easily reaching 150bhp now as there are quite a few pumos tweaks that can be done i.e gov modding, lda grinds, head changing 9mm to 10, 11, 12mm transits. There is ALOT of information about mate and you may want to check out www.pug306.net. welshpug, m, strictly_derv and a few others are also members on there, and also the bloke who created the video above ^^^^ is also on there and is now attempting to create a twin turbo supercharged m-TDI lol under the name of darrenjlobb.

Also would anyone care to explain a bit more about govenor modding, lda grinds and head changing, as im not very clued up about all this stuff!
