What engine and gearbox would be a big help?

If it is a standard 205 8v engine/box, you can undo the three bolts that hold on the tin flywheel cover to the gearbox, then use something like a big flat bladed screwdriver to lock the flywheel whilst the bolt is undone, obviously you will need someone to help you do this.

Personally I rattle them off with the windy gun, but I guess that by you asking this question you haven't got one.

OK, the other way is to remove the starter motor and again use something to lock the flywheel through that hole. Obviously more work though as the inlet may need to come off for access.

However which bit are you trying to replace, the Mi16 should have the outer pulley attached with 4 off bolts, that are not excessively tight normally.
