Anyone Here Owned/know G6**gok

Just wondering if anyone on here has owned or knows the car G6** GOK? Its a Miami Blue.

I recently acquired the car a couple of weeks ago, and have covered many miles already, mainly on motorways.

However, this week I've had the chance to take her out for some B road blasting, and I must say, her handling is sublime :)

I would like all my future cars set up like this! As far as I am aware, she retains standard 1.6 running gear, bar Monroe shocks front and rear.

If this was your car, I was just wondering where/how you got it set up in terms of tracking/toe/caster because she really is amazing to drive

Stick your head underneath the front, if it has standard bottom arms and standard top mounts then the camber and caster is not adjustable, only the toe. At the rear none of it is adjustable short of fitting different trailing arms, you can find out by measuring toe/camber.

Apologies Tom, in my enthusiasm to relay how much I enjoyed driving it, I meant toe. The car certainly does not have eccentric top mounts or such like.

It certainly feels different to all the other 205's that I have driven. It has a very tight turn in and feels 'planted' all of the time; the steering wheel also has a 'tightness' to it that is hard to explain, a micron degree of turn of the wheel instantly starts to move the car in the direction of turn.

Also, lorry ruts/camber never seem to cause tramlining which I have always experienced on other 205s. I believe it has standard wishbones, but I can't understand how nice it is compared to the others

btw - the other cars have always had sound bushes and new wishbones, and one also had a refurbished rear beam, so I do not think the difference is the usual suspects. Could tyre choice have any bearing on steering 'feel'? If so, I'm always opting for Michelins in future.

With regard to measuring 'toe', do you not need specialist lazer equipment to get accurate readings/set up?

Any place that can set tracking can measure the toe for you, I use a set of the Dunlop optical gauges which are accurate in my experience.

The thing that makes the biggest difference I have found is dampers, very often I see 20-odd year old 205's on their original dampers. I have done a few cars now with refurbed beams and new dampers all round and they drive superbly afterwards.
