Which Clutch

Recommended Posts

my 205 tt's clutch has started slipping on boost, ive read rightly or wrongly that there was a stronger clutch fitted when the tt conversion was done. Any suggestions as to which clutch i should replace it with?

1.9 mi16 clutch and bigger flywheel is probably your cheapest option. Flywheel is fitted to S16 and Gti6 among others :)

I'm running the mi 16 clutch, flywheel is from a 2.0 16v 406, although when I was looking the 1.8 16v, and gti6's are the same part number

No they're not - 1.8 16v is a 200mm clutch and GTi-6 is a 215mm clutch.

I promise you that they're not - as said, 1.8 16v is a 200mm clutch (and flywheel to match) with push-type release bearing, and GTi-6 is 215mm (again, with a flywheel to match) with a pull-type release bearing. I've physically removed both myself and had them in my own hands.

Assuming that you looked them up on the ECP system, I'd suggest that's the problem as it's littered with errors and mistakes frankly.

And just in case you needed any more convincing, the part numbers from Servicebox...

1.8 16v = 2052A6 for the clutch kit, and 0532C9 for the flywheel

GTi-6 = 2050S9 for the clutch kit, and 053423 for the flywheel.

1.8 16v flywheel is exactly the same (inc. part number) as a 205 GTi with Motronic management (ie UK CAT models)

no idea all i know is there seems to be plenty of bite on the clutch, and first and second gear is fine but 3rd and above as soon as the turbo spools up the clutch slips
