Battery Tray Removal

Ok i have undone the big bolts on the battery tray and the 2 bolts that hold the AFM,is this now supposed to come off?

 

i am trying to get to the engine mount for replacement

There are 2 bolt that through the chassis leg horizontally as well.

It quite tight to get to the bolts with the box still in place, try lowering the box slightly for better access :)

the 2 bolts,one that faces the rad and one opposite,

 

am i supposed to undone the bolts on the mount itself?

 

will it all come out with battery tray attached?

if you just want to replace the transmission mounting then its just the 2 13mm nuts either side and the centre 16mm nut, no need to touch the 13mm bolts into the chassis leg.

Just to confirm, there are 4 bolts holding the tray onto the chassis rail and 2 holding the mount onto the tray. I assume the engine is out of the car or gearbox detatched?

no,just want to replace the engine mount and re-paint tray, i thought this could be done without taking the engine out?

It's possible but i'd support the engine on a jack or stand, it will all hang off the top and lower mount alone otherwise, there's not alot else on that side holding it all up!!

Sorry to hijack the thread, but if this is the case thn how do I go about removing the battery to the boot without loosing the battery tray?? Or do I just cut it down or what??

You might need to remove the N/S Drive shaft to get enough clearance

Battery tray is used in the loosest of terms it's simply a gearbox mount with a limit at one end and a bolt and wedge affair at the other to hold the battery. I wouldn't be cutting anything.

you can cut quite a significant amount from it if you relocate the battery.
