8V Turbo Problem Fitting Shafts

Recommended Posts

bassline21

hello i have finally fitted my rebuilt turbo engine. but when it came to fighting the drive shafts disaster struck. it seems i cant get the right alligment because the hole next to the engine mount seems to be in the wrong place im using the be3 box and 205 shafts which were in the box originaly. i believe this should be straight forward but am puzzled. an answer or push in the right direction would be great. cheers.

You need to use the lower engine mount/driveshaft intermediate bearing housing from the 205 engine. They are matched to the gearbox so the one you are using is aligned to the gearbox in your donor car (406/Xantia/605 etc) as you have found.

Yes, it's only the driveshaft intermediate bearing hole that changes position.

Yeah that's right I had the same problem yesterday couldn't for the life of me figure out why? the shaft would go in so far then hit a dead end, welshpug told me to fit the bottom bracket from my 1.9 engine to the turbo lump and it went straight in,

Turned mine over today on the starter with the fuel line in a bottle, what are you using for the fuel lines? as they are too short and if they were long enough they would never go over the nipples on the fuel rail I have bought some fuel line that does but need to mate them to the car fuel pipes now??? dont fancy cutting the pipes under the car and jubilee clipping them, they are metal there for a reason - protection.

Thanks Lee

ive mounted the fuel pressure on the inner wing besides my fuel rail. so i cut the pipes under the car. then made up some new copper lines(8mm) to go from there, well out the way off the turbo up the corner of the engine bay through the holes in the metal flanges. then bent it neatly round the side of the suspension strut to the regulator. ive just used stainless lines from there and neat hose clipes. i also used heat shrink on the copper pipes to neaten them and secured them besides each other with some clips. looks very neat and there well clear off the turbo so im pleased. have you done yours yet?

Don;t use copper for the the fuel lines, The fuel will eat it away, you'll find loads on this on Google etc

I've noticed you comment on this a couple times miles, I have full length rubber at the moment and want to change the line under the car to solid. What do you recommend to use as cheap home made/self bend alternate?

How quickly does this happen though?

Peugeot still supply the steel lines, or you could use plastic as per later pug/citroen vehicles, I think you can get plastic coated alloy too.

The fuel pipes from Pug are only £20.14 for both feed & return but you also need the union end (156323 @ 83p) & an olive / ring (156236 @ 36p) but these two don't often come bagged in singles.

They need cutting & shaping to fit though but its easy enough to do.
