Fun Drive In My Car....

Despite the fact my engine is tapping and might drop a valve at any point I decided to take it for a good drive at the weekend. It handles suprisingly well given the extra weight of the 6 engine, think the 309 front running gear helps out a bit too. Was suprised how quick it is acceleration wise with the 1.6 gearbox! Before you know it the clock is reading 130 (on a private road of course).

 

I said I would never do such a big conversion again but it sure put a massive smile on my face driving it

 

Has anyone else got a 1.6 box mated to their gti6 engine?

Yeah, but it prob isnt doing 130 as last time I got it to that speed with 1.9 engine on the sat nav it said 124

i also drive a gti6 engine mated to a 1.6 box mines also a tapper! ha i do have a spare engine though but yeah thet certainely get through the gears quick! its such a bargain set up goes much better than my throttle bodied and cammed 106 did and for a fraction of the cost!
